The Municipality of Mayo would like to update residents on the progress of the bridge replacement project on Chemin de la Rivière-Blanche.
The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTQ) has confirmed that work has been temporarily suspended since July 6 (official notice received July 10). While this situation is beyond the Municipality’s control, we recognize the impact it has on residents and emergency services. As soon as we were informed, the Municipality contacted the MTQ to request a prompt resumption of work, an updated timeline, and measures to reduce the impacts.
The MTQ confirms that traffic conditions remain unchanged: the full bridge closure and detour route remain in effect, as per the notice issued June 9. The Ministry remains responsible for signage and user safety along the detour for the duration of the suspension.
As for the reason behind the stoppage, the MTQ is not commenting on ongoing negotiations between the unions and the Conseil du trésor, but acknowledges that a prolonged suspension could affect the project timeline. The Ministry assures us that work will resume without delay as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
