General Information
A by-election will be held on September 6, 2026.
On this occasion, the citizens of Mayo will elect a councillor for seat number 3, who will take part in decisions shaping the future of our community.

Recruitment of Election Personnel
The Municipality of Mayo is recruiting individuals to work during the advance poll (august 30, 2026) and on polling day (september 6, 2026).
Positions to be filled:

Deputy returning officers (scrutateurs)

Poll clerks (secretaries of polling stations)
Each hired individual will receive paid training as well as financial compensation for their work.

Becoming a candidate
Interested in getting involved in municipal politics? You can file your candidacy for the position of Councillor, seat 3.
Documents must be submitted to the municipal office, to the returning officer.

Requirements for voting in municipal elections
To vote, you must meet the following conditions on september 6, 2026:
- Be entered on the list of electors
- You are responsible to confirm your entry and ensure that your information is up to date
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Not have lost your election rights
On November 2, 2025, you must also meet one of the following two conditions, depending on your domiciliary address.
- If your domicile is located in the municipality, you must:
- Have lived in Québec for at least six months.
- If your domicile is not located in the municipality, you must:
- Own a building or occupy a business establishment located on the territory of the municipality since at least 45 days;
- Have sent an application for entry or a power of attorney to the municipality within the required timeframe.
If you are a non-resident elector, you must complete Form SMRC-9.2-VA (Application for entry on the list of electors).
If you are co-owners or co-occupants, you must designate a single person by proxy using Form SMRC-9.1-VA.
